ICONFIT's hydrolysed collagen is derived from pork. Hydrolysis breaks collagen down into smaller peptides. The type labels I, II and III describe collagen in its original tissue; after hydrolysis, a type number alone is not a reliable way to compare finished powders or predict their effects. Look instead at the ingredients and how much collagen a serving provides. A claim that one hydrolysed “type” must work better needs evidence for the finished product, not just its type label.
For a simple, unflavoured powder, choose Pure Hydrolysed Collagen. Its unflavoured variant contains collagen without other ingredients and has a 10 g serving. Joint Collagen combines collagen with other ingredients including glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM and minerals; a 20 g serving provides 10 g of collagen. Its glucosamine is derived from crustaceans. Beauty Collagen combines collagen with vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, zinc and biotin; its serving size and collagen amount vary by flavour.
Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin, bones and cartilage. Compare the full ingredient lists and directions on each product page, especially if you have an allergy or are pregnant or breastfeeding.
